SPECIALTY FORMULATIONS

LubeAlloy provides customised chemistry solutions and formulation advice for machinery and equipment that operates outside the normality of everyday oils. Our experience has identified that there are times that arise that the appropriate oil viscosity and chemistry is not readily available for the desired outcomes of performance. 
A case study where the technical team implemented such a strategy was with a major quarrying operations.  
Problems had arisen with high wear rates of the Main Shaft, Bevel Gear, Pinion, Radial and Taper Roller Bearings and Rotary Seal Bearings. In consultation with maintenance management, it was revealed that the viscosity that was in use was due to cold start issues, however this was not providing sufficient boundary film to protect the identified parts. Chemist within LubeAlloy went to work and developed an oil that provided immediate cold start, with a major focus on eliminating high wear rates. Further advancements that were realised were cooler operating temperatures, reduced amperage draw at start-up and voltage use of electricity during running times. 
Since introducing this select formulation in 2010, the company has accounted for a saving of $1.4 million across downtime loss of production, energy use, customer satisfaction and reliability. In 2021, 2 new cone crushers were introduced to the operations of this major quarrying operations, the only oil specified for this application is LA Specialised Lubricants.
